In God(s) we Trust?

In the advent of technology and fast-paced everything, a lot of us are still trying to do things on our own. After all, most of us has this notion that we are, most of the time, independent. That we are outside the tapestry of fate.

Though most of us has been able to control our "destinies" by ourselves, I believe that there are some parts of us that still believe that we can influence it using our own abilities and skills. Fate in some part is something that is very difficult to change or even motivated in the right direction. Magicians and Sorcerers since the dawn of time are always proud of being able to move fate and shape reality with their will. Though some of these movements and shaping has given most of us some monumental advantage over some people, people are also in a way shaping and moving reality on their own, by prayers.

For those of us who have been studying the "Art and Science" of magick, we are used to shaping reality as sculptors shape clay. By putting our intentions into action, using specific correspondences and formulae, we are able to coerce fate to do things for us. Most of the people in this planet, however, are not aware that they can make subtle changes in reality, some who are aware, refuse it all together.

Majority of us actually has some ability to change reality in small "coincidental" ways. Some people follow certain "superstitions" that are giving them great luck, or some people light candles and wish upon it, most pray.

Belief for me is the fuel that powers certain rites and rituals, making sure that spells work. These belief may be in different forms, belief in one's ability, in spirits, ancestors and the deities. Belief in self is the very foundation of this, the belief that one can affect and change reality. Belief in the spirits (nature, ancestors, angels, etc.) require people to give some offerings to them to connect and work with them. The most powerful type of belief for me is the belief in the Divine.

The practice I am in is Roman paganism, where in its earliest form believe in the Numen. This "divine presence" was where the belief in the Lars came from, the formless gods that are tied in specific place. It is their belief that once these Lars are worshipped and given form and name, they became the anthropomorphic gods we see in mythology today. My devotion to these gods are the core being of the way I do magick. As a priest of this path, I do my obligation to these gods and win their favor by giving them offerings of wine, water and incense, just to name a few. For me, humans have the capacity to change reality on a minute level, however, if we need to do something major, we then take out the big guns. We do our best and the gods will do the rest.
